Professional Dance Artists Sophie Duncan and Joshua Ecob, have developed an intensive course that mirrors the kinds of training you would find in full time vocational dance schools. The courses, which run between 2 - 6 days, are held thoughout the year, normally in school holidays. A normal NGD Day starts with a 30min self warmup followed by 2 technique classes, both 1h 30mins, in Ballet and Contemporary. After lunch, we head into a combination of creative work, pas de deux, choreography, improvisation or our Dancer Tool Box classes, ending with a group cool down and 'Unlimited Access' Q&A.
"We want to give a rounded insight into the professional dance world by offering a rigorous daily training schedule plus personal training advice to help clear up some of the mystery about embarking on a career in dance. Our program has an equal focus on classical ballet, contemporary dance and developing choreography, finally leading to a showcase at the end of the course. We treat all our students like professional dancers and aim to push them to move differently and perform!" - Joshua Ecob
Classical techniques in Cecchetti and Vaganova will take place alongside neoclassical partner work and virtuosity to bring the strength and artistry out of our students.
Joshua trained at KS Dance in Warrington, and has performed with Serbian National Ballet and Bosnian National Ballet. His classes have strong classical technique but he adds his own contempoary and neoclassical twist to the classes, giving great performance and body movement, and a great alternative to classic forms and flow of the class.
Classes feature Cunningham Technique, Flying Low and Floor work techniques. We will also introduce the basics of Physical Theatre, Improvisation and Partnerwork.
Sophie trained at London Contempoary Dance School and choreographer and dancer with world class companies such as Cirque Du Soleil and Franco Dragone Entertainment. Her classes are high energy with a strong focus on core, performance and musicality.
The students will learn one original contemporary choreography and one classical ballet repertoire, plus learn new techniques to generate their own choreography, ready to perform at the end of the week.
"We want to aid our students in their own work in school and in their free time by offering classes in movement development and creating from stimuli, improvisational techniques, understanding music relationships, basic notation and understanding space." - Sophie Duncan
In informal environment where students can openly ask questions about anything they want, including any stories we have to offer!
Extra classes personal fitness, stretching classes, dance notation, music and choreography, specific dance fitness and CV writing.
